This is number one of a limited edition that will not exceed thirty-seven numbered pieces with no artist proofs.
The bronze figure stands 11 ¾ inches high. The round, black-marble base is 1 ¼ inches high and 6 ½ wide. A copyright symbol, the artist’s signature, and date of issue were inscribed by the artist on the bottom back of his original wax model. The number of the piece was added to the bronze after casting.
The artist’s final sculpting was carved in sierra red wax, a very hard wax to facilitate the finest detail and polished surface. The patina, professionally rendered by the American Fine Arts Foundry with the artist’s directions and approval, is a classic antique brown. It gives each piece a rich and polished finish with shades and highlights and varying tonal values.
