	Lotus in Jubilee Vics Magsaysay Lotus is an interesting plant. It's no wonder many cultures in Asia regard it with due respect. Why? Despite thriving in murky waters, its flower unfolds into a pristine beauty unaffected by the water below it. It's a good metaphor for a person who could still remain human (or spiritual) despite the worst environment he or she is in. A popular witty saying says something similar to the lotus metaphor: "Being on this earth but not of it."
