Above the muddy waters of life
Vics Magsaysay
This is a very haunting picture I took in Huntington Garden and Library in San Marino, California. The low sun's light reflects on the murky waters of the water plant. It masks its dark and muddy water and at the same time brings glory to the rising water plant. Lotus is a perfect metaphor of what life is: That even in darkness or in a murky environment, anyone could still remain pure, clean and beautiful.
This is an image that brings goose bumps on my arms while on the process of shooting with a telephoto lens. It's probably because of its unique and haunting appeal. Of all the nature images I have taken, this particular photo is the one that is always being appreciated and bought in my exhibits. I even included the story--and the image--of this image in my chapter of the anthology book, "The Power of Mentorship: Developing the leader within."
