This is two pieces of art in one. Acrylic painting in its own frame can be removed from the multimedia collage easily. Behing the painting is text about the derailment. This early spring depiction of a New England Central Railroad SD40 locomotive, shows the locomotive in its last days of service, in the brattleboro vermont yard. It was in a derailment and scrapped. The artist captured the warm sun on the 30 year old workhorse. This piece is a framed acrylic on canvas 12 x 12. It is unique because the artist also made a multimedia collage to frame the painting. It is not quite complete in the photo's, because the collage will have model railroad track around the outer edge. It is to be placed where the model ballast (the grey pebbly area)is. It is truly 3 dimensional with peices of the collage elevated off the surface. It contains text and photo's of the derailment as well the history of the locomotive.
