Sohail Yamin was born in 1963 in Pakistan. He did his bachelors in mechanical engineering from University of Toledo, U.S.A and later his post graduate studies in environmental science from Pakistan. He and his family moved to Melbourne, Australia in 1997, where he now works as a design and project manager in an engineering company.
Sohail art’s journey started at an early age, sketch books, paper and paints have been his best friends since elementary school. At school he participated in various art competitions and awarded for his innovative works. Though never been trained professionally in art, he has polished his skills through self education and training. He works in a variety of mixed media such as polymer clay, mosaics, glass-liners, lino-cut, acrylics, oil and wood.
Sohail has been experimenting with calligraphic painting for number of years; his treatment of this subject has been bold, contemporary and innovative. His exodus from traditional school of calligraphy is apparent as he utilizes new and different techniques in his composition |
