 My name is nick cerullo piliero I grew up in the Bronx and Westchester ny.I am 67 yrs. young have 2 boys 11 and 13yrs old. I live in vt now for the past 18 yrs.I am selftaught,thru a death experience I had some years ago. I can't explain it I don't try I just know I am doing what I was born to do here. My boys inspire me and help me to stay in the moment. I see, I feel I paint . If you have not noticed COLOR is my thing.I believe there is power and magic in color !!! I have sold numerous paintings all over the world. have been in nyc galleries, won stuff and all that but it is always my painting that I care about not the money or that other stuff. I never never have sale in mind when I paint. I keep my prices down so most people can afford it to have an original .I also donate paintings to the schools and places in my town. I was also a human services worker, I worked with delinquent teens; I was one so it is the perfect job for me!! I am self taught thru a death experience I don't usually tell people much more than that but to understand where I'm coming from I'll elaborate a little here. Some 38 years ago my heart had stopped, time seemed to be non existent. No longer was I in my body [ you can see why I don't talk of this much sounds nuts ! ] It was told to me that I was to be an artist at the time I was a draftsman working in the Bronx. This was what I am here on earth to do. My friends were all artists that went to students art league, Parsons Pratt and so on. Plus to me this was some trick of the brain even though in my soul I knew it was true. Many things were told to me I would have a son late in life with the 3rd woman and name him Quentin [ which happened [ I was 54 with my 3rd wife ] and many other revelations. I am not a religious person but spiritual .I stopped fighting it and started to draw. Pen and ink was my passion for many years then in 1984 or so some one gave me paints. When I picked up the brush I knew this is what I was born for. I sold my 1st painting quickly and have been lucky since then. When painting I go to a place within a place of pure creation so I never run out of things to paint. I see paintings in every thing mostly magazines' and books are used for ideas. Color is my passion some love my color some hate it , the ones that have no say are the ones that get me. A lot of my work is ideas Picasso "say any one can paint pretty pictures great artist paint ideas". When painting form and color are important to me. How one color plays off another one form off another and how they unite to become a painting. There seems to be an inner force in me that guides me when painting, it’s like the brush is doing the work not me ? Ever so often a series will come out, women with sunglasses or abstracted landscapes and so on. I paint every day I was a stay home dad and sell some art on line as work. The best of both worlds. An old French artist told me people do not have to see the signature they know a Piliero when they see it that is a great sign. I seem to have rambled here I've lost the hearing in my left ear so it is difficult to talk on the phone but I have a phone that I can turn up the volume on so I will try to call you this week if it is ok with you unlike some artist I'm very easy to get along with . Some 6 or so years ago a gallery in NYC " Get Real Art " sold some paintings for me but my boys were small and I did not peruse it much.
