Mouth Blown Sake Set ~ Strength
Nancy Bossert

This "Sake set ~ Strength" is a fun set and larger. It holds 24 fluid oz. and I painted a tree for strength on the vessel. Again, the vessel is mouth blown and then corked as it is beaten into shape. I also stamp the clay with stamps I have created. The clay has been fired and the glaze is non toxic and food safe.

This vessel is larger than many of my other sake/tea sets, and this one comes with 6 hand built cups. Two of the cups have the extra button decoration.

The vessel has a plug (or call it a fancy cork), but it loosely fits into the opening and is not meant to be a tight, sealed fit. The vessel measures 6" high, 5 " in length and 4 1/2" in width. The spout measures approximately 1 1/2".

The set comes with 6 cups. The cups are all hand built not wheel thrown. I love texture (look at my paintings) and the inside of the cups have texture and the outside have minimal texture.

Glaze is a light tobacco brown speckled gloss glaze with hints of blue /gray slate at the bottom and a few spots elsewhere. And I added the blue gray at the tree and the tree is painted with a sumi brush and black. I might add that the main glaze has a light golden brown appearance (computers can be bad with color, or golden tan.)

The cups vary slightly since they are all hand built. They are approximately 1 3/4" in height, top diameter is 2 1/4" and bottom diameter is 1 1/4".

I gently pinched the pot as I worked the shape as a point to grasp when pouring.

This vessel can also be used for the tea drinker or purely decorative. Enjoy the unique quality and the difference of mouth blown pottery.

Packaging and shipping for this item is more because of the fragile quality.
