Mouth Blown Sake set ~Lizard Wrapped
Nancy Bossert

This "Mouth Blown Sake set ~ Lizard Wrapped" is a fun set and larger. It holds 26-28 fluid oz. The vessel is unique in that it is mouth blown and then corked as it is beaten into shape. I also stamp the clay with stamps I have created. The clay has been fired and the glaze is non toxic and food safe. This vessel is larger than some of the other Sake sets I have on BG and this one comes with 4 hand built cups.

The vessel has a plug (or call it a fancy cork), but it loosely fits into the opening and is not meant to be a tight, sealed fit. The vessel measures 7" high, 5 1/2 " in length and 4 1/4" in width. The spout measures approximately 2".

The unusual aspect to this vessel is the lizard wrap at the top which is mold made and then attached to the mouth blown portion. Then the entire pot is reworked to tie together compositionally. The glaze is a granite gray with tiny paprika speckles and the lower section a cream with soft speckling.

The set comes with 4 cups. The cups are all hand built not wheel thrown. I love texture (look at my paintings) and the inside of the cups have texture and the outside have minimal texture. The glazing is the same as the vessel.

The cups vary slightly since they are all hand built. They are approximately 1 3/4" in height, top diameter is 2 1/4" and bottom diameter is 1 1/4".

This vessel can also be used for tea.

Packaging and shipping for this item is more because of the fragile quality.
