 John Bacoy was born in Manila, Philippines. He studied Fine Arts - Advertising at Eulogio Amang Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology. He has worked for several big advertising companies in the Philippines as a graphic artist.
John’s passion for painting began at a young age but did not pursue it until he was in college. He competed in and won several national art competitions and also mentored students to prepare them for art competitions. He did not continue to be a full time artist due to the demand of his job and obsession for sports. John is not only an artist but also a marathoner and a triathlete.
America became John’s residence when he migrated to California in 2002. He adjusted to his new environment and adopted himself to the western culture easily. John started painting again in 2007. Painting is now a big part of his life routine. He sells them online and in art galleries.
Recently, John had won several competitions:
• Third place winner in the 26th Annual California Strawberry Festival Poster Competition
• Third place winner of the First Fall 2009 Contemporary Art Online Exhibition
• First place winner of the Zebra Technology Logo Competition for Ventura County Corporate Games for two consecutive years
John’s original paintings are inspired by human emotions, life experiences and nature. They are mostly abstract in style and the colors are vibrant and bright. He uses either oil or acrylic as the medium. His canvasses are museum stretch suitable for hanging without framing and the edges are painted continuously. He coats all his paintings with a high quality clear layer of varnish to protect from dust and to keep it from fading. Each painting comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
