My name is Cynthia Weidner and I am a self taught abstract expressionist. Originally my paintings were inspired by dreams and have now progressed to total spontaneity.
My motto as an artist is:
“Color outside the lines”
I’m sure that’s why abstract painting is so appealing to me. It’s when we can throw the traditional guidelines to the wind thereby impelling us to true unstructured creativity.
Every artist has their own individual inspiration for the creation of their art, philosophical theory, a deep inward impulsion, an emotionally charged explosions, etc.
Mine is quite simple, I paint intuitively.
I choose not to stick to a particular color palette because in my opinion it impedes total creativity.
Much of the process I use has a lot to do with the base color or texture I choose and then the piece will begin to evolve. I enjoy working with mixed media, acrylics, textured materials, paper, variegated leafing, pigmented powders and metallic paint.
I have a very eclectic style although I lean more towards expressionism. I've been told by many of my buyers that it's the texture and color combinations I use that have drawn them to my work.
A quote from one of the great masters adequately reflects my feelings as an artist.
“Art washes from the soul the dust of everyday life”
-Picasso
