Son of Zeus by the nymph Semele. Greek god of wine. This painting is copied from its ancient form, from a Greek amphora of the fifth century BC, showing the god, the crown of vine leaves and the leopard skin cloak. In his hand he holds a star encrusted goblet of wine. I have added a little modern spin to the ancient painting, portraying him more as a god who enjoyed music, dancing and revelry.
Oil on Canvas.
