Growing up in New England, I enjoyed art so much in grade school, I knew it would be a life work. Professionally, I have studied at the Silvermine Guild School of Art (Conn) and the Cranbrook Academy of Art (Mich). Being active in many competitive shows in California and New York has been rewarding. Several original works are in public and private collections, such as the State of California's Permanent Collection.
My recent series of motorcycle pictures has been a step in a continued evolution from working on pictures of small metal objects such as a flute and metal guitar, then automobiles, to move into the mechanical intricacies of motorcycles. Painstakingly created using layers of pastel pencil, I enjoy working with the metal surfaces to develop the shine of chrome and paint reflections. Each work takes between 120 to 200 hours to create! The many mechanical parts of these machines slicing across the canvas present various interesting compositions. Adding the components of color and texture to the reflected metallic surfaces presents a finished work of bold and dynamic beauty. Thank you for visiting! |
