This is the second of 2 commissioned pieces. My client requested a height chart for marking the growth of their second child, a son. The chart is 10"x85" and is made of 100% cotton fabrics.
I have incorporated into the chart, a frame to hold a wallet size photograph of the little boy each year through his 18th birthday.
The piece is hand quilted and hand bound. Quilted inside each frame is the corresponding year for his age as he grows. The first frame on the bottom has a zero in it and is for his first picture taken the day he was born.
His name is handquilted down the side, and frogs, bugs, turtles, pine trees, basketballs, footballs and soccer balls are hand quilted on the chart.
At the top is hand quilted a classic car from the early 1970s and at the bottom is a pair of praying hands as well as a heart with a cross inside.
Each year on his birthday he will be measured. The date and a mark will be made on the chart side with a permanent fabric marker.
