This quilt commission was initiated on June 29, 2009 and completed on May 14, 2012. It is based on the Wyoming Valley block from the 1930s. It is one of two quilts commissioned by the client during the studio visit. The second quilt, Wyoming Valley #6, is in the hand quilting stage now.
The clients requested pink and green fabrics as they were very reminiscent of spring. The rest was up to me as the designer. It may seem like this was an extremely long process but interspersed with this project of two large wall pieces were also several pieces for exhibitions as well. This piece required 924 hours to complete over the almost three year period, which would have worked out to about six months of time working 40 hours a week exclusively on this piece.
