This large copper is the first of the series of works I've done of Lacecap Hydrangeas. In the fall the sterile outer flowers turn a raspberry red, and the leaves darken briefly into a rainbow of colors before they drop.
This piece is done quite colorfully, but this same design could be done, on commission, more simply - using flat black enamel for the background and one patina on the copper.
This copper is framed under museum glass.
