"This attractive black and white tug is 30 meters long and 8 meters wide. She is a Sause Brothers tug, working near Astoria, Oregon on the Columbia River.”
Artist comment: "Pulling a barge, this large Sause Bros. tug seems to move easily upriver as she approaches the Astoria Bridge. Working with pastel on textured Canson Mi-Teintes paper, I sketched the scene with a triangle composition, from the bridge, to the boat's stern and across the lower 'third' of the paper. The line of the tree covered hillside outlines the top 'third'. I first painted sky and water, taking advantage of the texture of the paper to illustrate the ripply surface of the water. I carefully blended the clouds at the edges to give them a 'soft' look. The background trees are a middle value. I finished with the strong values of the boat with it's distinctive tower and antennas, mast, and stacks.”

Prints on paper are signed and numbered by Carol Thompson, include a signed certificate of authenticity, and are shrink wrapped on fome board. Prints on canvas are signed and numbered by Carol Thompson, include a signed certificate of authenticity, and are gallery wrapped (the image is extended or mirrored to wrap around the sides of wooden stretcher bars and stapled to the back) so the print can be displayed framed or unframed. Other products are not signed or numbered unless specifically noted.
