The literary angel was painted to celebrate the life of my great aunt Margaret C. Anderson - A pioneer for women's rights and the pursuit of art in general. She created a magazine dedicated to the arts called The Little Review in the 20's and was the first to publish James Joyce's Ulysses in the USA. She had a fabulous life over in Paris- Rubbing shoulders and publishing works for many great artists... Cocteau, Stein, Goldberg, Pound, Leger, Picasso, Hemingway, Gurgeiff to name a few...It was a wonderful and magical time for the arts. The Literary Angel’s dress is made up of writing and quotes. She holds an olive branch for peace.
