The Hindu Goddess of all arts: music, painting, sculpture, dance, and writing is called Sarasvati. She has just presented mankind with the gift of writing so that her songs could be written down and preserved. Sarasvati is pictured here in a perfumed garden of earthly and mystical delights. The hand represents Mudras (gestures) which India's adepts and seers use symbolically as recognized emblems and transmitters of a Deity's power or energy. Sarasvati is the Goddess of eloquence, and words pour from her like a sweetly flowing river.
