I went with a friend to Casbah, a great and moody Moroccan restaurant in downtown Sacramento. We met up with these guys who were trying to give us instruction on how to smoke a hookah correctly. I was surprised at how mild it was. They were very nice and agreed to pose for a cell phone photo. I painted this 16x20 oil to remember the restaurant and fun time we had there. I was trying to capture the light moving from left to right as well as the smoke wafting about. The thing I like most about this painting is that you probably wouldn't guess that it's in the capitol of California.
