Still Life and Grandmother's Atoms
Brooke Monette (see more by this artist)
It must have been the fact that I grew up surrounded by Cedars and Pines that I am so enamored of hardwoods. There's something compelling about the thick, twisty trunks, and the more random pattern of their branches, which pines lack. This piece gives off a warm glow, and a sense of serenity. As to the title, it's an old practice to bury people beneath their favorite old oak tree, and I find it intriguing that a person's corporeal form can, over time, become integrated into other life forms.
Prints are made using archival quality inks and paper, and arrive hand-signed and numbered out of 250. This is a limited edition run, and when these are gone, there shall be no more made.
