This painting with collage represents a traditional Asian subject, the kimono. Executed in neutral colors---creams, browns, black and gold---it spans the ages. This piece does not have to be placed in an Asian influenced space; it is appropriate for most environments including contemporary. The small details---clear and gold rhinestones and a few pearls---highlight the busy patterns of the collage. The background is layered with goldleaf. This creates a subtle crazed pattern; in some places the underpainting shows through. These elements combined add up to a striking, one of a kind piece of art which is sure to be noticed.
This 12X16 inches piece is executed on 1/8 inch hardboard. There is a sawtooth hanger on the back so you can simply unwrap it and enjoy it on your wall.
If you like it here, you will LOVE it when you when you see it in person! There is a companion piece available. (See above.)
Joan Rivers LOVES her Maggie Ruth painting. She keeps it on a bookshelf in her office right next to her desk!
