16x20 oil on canvas, unframed original by Wendy Detweiler. A 1939-40 scene of a woman and her dog walking about the grounds of the Pulgas water temple. This temple was built in 1934 by the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, the temple combines several flows of water like the Hetch Hetchy and the Penninsula water shed, this continuous flow of water would be available to the Bay Area which was a great reliefe to the people after the horrible tragedy of the 1906 Earthquake and massive fires where water was in short supply. The temple was built with flute columns and Corinthian pillars to reflect the Ancient Greek and Roman engineering Methods of the first water systems. At the top of the temple is a saying which reads " I give waters in the wilderness and rivers in the desert to give drink to my people"
