"A cautious crow stands on rusting metal on a boat in the bay at Florence, Oregon, U.S.A. It is poised; 'ready' to fly if approached."
Artist Comments: "In my opinion, crows are great! They are smart, entertaining, and do not deserve the bad reputation that haunts them. Therefore, I have begun a series of paintings of these irrepressible clowns. This is the first one. I chose to accent the 'blackness' of a solitary crow by opposing the deep richness of its body with a warm and gentle morning; surrounding the subject with a relaxing atmosphere. The stance and alertness of the crow suggests imminent hasty departure; yet a curiosity about the 'human' moving ever closer. I used a sheet of gray toned Canson Mi-Tientes paper for the substrate, letting the complimentary color show through the pastel to keep the tone moderated."
"Ready" is a limited edition, giclée print from an original pastel painting by Carol Thompson. Edition length is 3600 authorized, signed, limited edition prints (3500 numbered and 100 artist proofs). Prints on paper are signed and numbered by Carol Thompson, include a signed certificate of authenticity, and are shrink wrapped on fome board. Prints on canvas are signed and numbered by Carol Thompson, include a signed certificate of authenticity, and are gallery wrapped (the image is extended or mirrored to wrap around the sides of wooden stretcher bars and stapled to the back) so the print can be displayed framed or unframed. Other products are not signed or numbered unless specifically noted.
