Sandhill Cranes Run On Water
Heywood & Donna's Studio (see more by this artist)
Sandhill cranes are surprisingly large birds. I once mistook a pair for deer when I saw them grazing in a field near my parents' house just off the Snake River. I was attracted to the photo I borrowed this scene from, with its foggy background of shore and trees and a silvery body of water below two racing cranes who had just lifted off. Ungainly on land, with a shrill barking cry, they're breathtakingly beautiful in the air. I loved the shapes and the suggestion of one racing the other. Heywood
