1) Dierdriana Takes Aim - Archery
Maureen W. Clifton (see more by this artist)
A 1978 photo of Maureen as Dierdriana of the Misty Isles, taking aim in Target Archery at Big Trees in the Oakland Hills CA. She used a 25 pound Re-curve Bow to represent a Longbow with pencil thin aluminum arrows (in those days it was what most SCA Archers used). Her arrows’ colors were her Medieval Heraldic Arms (red, silver & blue). Costume is a Norse style that she made. She had seen a style like it in a book about the Norse people’s Viking lives. The pattern was drafted by Dierdriana & the costume made with modern materials & trim, the ‘creative’ part of the SCA’s name!
