Fused glass Cross

This beautiful, one of a kind fused glass cross can be used as a tile or sits in a metal stand as "table top jewelry". I like to call these larger pieces jewelry since they decorate your table top the same way that smaller fused glass pieces can be worn as jewelry.
The cross is made by 1st creating a "pattern Bar" The glass was stacked and fired at high tempertures to make a bar around 1.5 x.3/4" x 6" long. Once the bar has cooled it is sliced with a diamond saw into 1/8" slices. The slices are layed out onto a sheet of glass and fired in the kiln again with other glass accents to fused all the pieces together. The final steps in creating this unique piece include, cold working the piece to refine the edges then re-firing to fire polish the edges. Truly a labor intensive work of art glass. It is beautiful at night with a candle behind it.
