Memory Pot ~ Ties that Bind, clay
Nancy Bossert (see more by this artist)
This "Memory Pot ~ Ties that Bind" is a new exciting piece. This piece is created out of one slab of rolled out clay and then is beaten into shape. The style is referred to as bash pottery. I just keep beating the clay with a flat stick until I achieve the result I am looking for. This is a long process in developing a shape.
I currently have a few of these in galleries. This pottery piece includes bronze chain as well as inset cork, an asian style coin, two hand made clay birds which hang from the chain, and a variety of semi precious stones ( including mahogany obsidian, dumorterite, and striped onyx).
I planned to add cork to the piece after it was glazed and fired. The holes for the cork were created during the clay working process.
This is glazed in a cream crackle coloration and a bronze/brown at the bottom, I also stamped the piece with a circular pattern in black. The pot stands approximately 6" high and 5" in diameter.
