Our Tetse'oih Tutua'a Tommo ( Baby Winter Hat ) is made from very soft deerskin which is Fully lined with rabbit fur, to keep baby's head snug and warm.
We make these hats with a tie in the back to adjust around the neck and leave room for growing...
The top front tie runs through the hat from ear flap to ear flap, making it fully adjustable...and the ear flaps are long to completely keep the cold and wind out of the baby's ears.
The laces are all made from hand cut circle lace, and are weighted with beautiful hand rolled Birch Bark beads, made specially for our leather work.
Our Custom fitted Nempeh Tutua'a Tommo ( Baby Winter Booties ) are handcrafted from very soft deerskin, and Fully lined with rabbit fur, to keep baby feet snug and warm.
We make these differently than our children's and adult's boots. These booties are one layer of deerskin with rabbit fur throughout, because they are made for infants, up to the first stages of walking. Babies can feel the earth under their feet, which helps to learn balance, and strengthens the foot muscles and arches.
They can be worn over little socks, but are soft enough to slip on bare feet too.
They are made with wrap laces (from hand cut circle lace), which tie in the back where the baby cannot untie them easily while exploring.
We do make them custom fitted, and will speak with you about the current measurements of the baby's head and feet, as well as sizing up to be sure it will fit throughout the winter, or maybe two winters.
