Long and twisted life.
I was born and grew up in Sri Lanka - I am still drawn to everything Asian because of it. I use strong colour in my paintings and illustrations there is nothing grey out there for me.
I lived in England for many years and got SO depressed with the weather.
Moved to Los Angeles with my husband and oh how wonderful - sunshine most of the year as well as fires, earthquakes and mudslides. We lived in a place called Topanga Canyon which was beautiful and full of very creative people.
I started doing sculpture there and was able to sell quite a lot of my work - I also taught pottery to Spoiled Beverly Hills mums and supposedly over active children!
Made a lot of good friends and travelled a lot - my husband is in the airline business, so lots of yummy free miles. Still traveling mostly to India and China where I feel really at home (especially India and of course Sri Lanka.
Now I am here living permanently in Provence France - which is delightful and the people very friendly.
I spend a lot of time on my art which comes in all shapes and sizes: at the moment I am stuck into collage from my own photos and drawings. I take pictures of everything and draw and draw and draw!
I also make tables out of old doors and windows.
Create amazing boxes which are like alters with lights inside - I have made a Frankenstein Box, an aquarium out of an old fishing box, a mosque, a chinese buddhist box out of an old bedside table, a catholic box out of an old clock box, and an old english church with a tree growing up through it and 'the green man' hiding everywhere.
As you can see I am very busy + I've just learnt how to use a computer and am having a lot of problems but also fun times!
I think I should add more to this later it looks as though my thirty minutes might be up soon.
