 Alan Long, the impressionist that is listed in the World Artist Directory, received formal art education when he was a teenager, has more than thirty years of painting experience.
The artist paints both urban and country landscapes as well as seascapes either in oil or watercolour. As a nature lover, who appreciates beautiful country scenes, the scenic natural environment is always his favourite subject.
Alan has developed and mastered the skill of knife paintings, he is able to paint and complete the entire picture by painting knives except his signature and those little birds flying in his beautiful scenes of landscapes and seascapes are by sharp tiny brushes. With the special skill of knife painting, Alan has established his very own characteristic impressionism. His art lovers can easily identify his paintings before even looking at his signature.
Alan has won numerous international awards. The first award was a Bronze Medal from the Society for Art in Education of Tokyo in Japan in 1966 when he was a student. The most recent one was an Award for the Seascapes, Rivers and Lakes Painting Competition organized by the Australian Artist Magazine. His winning oil painting Scenic River View was published in the magazine’s 213th issue, March 2002.
Alan has been exhibiting his works in Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Japan and Germany. He has museums, institutions, private organizations and individuals as his art collectors in various countries.
Some of Alan’s selected works are featured in publications and newspapers i.e. Australian Artist, Asian Artists, Art 60, Contemporary Singapore Artists, Singapore Artists Directory both the first and second editions, Strait Times, Sunday Times, Lianhezhaobao etc.
After many years of making a living by selling his original paintings, the artist realizes the popularity of his art and decided to publish his Limited Edition. With the Limited Edition, More and more people can have Alan’s works of art added to their collections.
