ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
I was born in a mountain village in Eastern Slovakia. As a teenager I moved to Bratislava, a 9th century city rich in history and culture. At the urging of grandparents in America, my family emigrated to the United States in the summer of 1967 in order to escape the Russian invasion. My move to the Northwest brought me closer to the lyrical experiences of nature and reminders of my childhood village. For it was there that I formed my impression of the arts from the bold colors, frescos, and icons in the 300-years-old church, the bucolic life, summer storms, fields and vineyards. I paint primarily in acrylics and oils. Recent themes include landscapes, still life and human figures. |
