Kia Ora!
Welcome to my Gallery - I hope you enjoy your visit.
Originally from the North of England, from Irish and Scottish Ancestry, I am lucky enough to now be living in beautiful New Zealand (Aotearoa), which is now the home of my soul.
Classically trained at Rochdale Art College in England, I then went on to work extensively with theatre and in fashion design. I now choose to follow my own creative path to allow my vision to unfurl as it must.
When painting, I mainly work in oils on large canvasses; I am also a photographer and am inspired by the natural beauty, colour and spirituality that surrounds us all in this incredible land.
I love the rich arts, the proud history, and the vibrant culture of this land, and indeed, am intrigued by the connections of all peoples throughout the world, and how our histories and legends combine to illuminate our path.
Through my work, I explore the relationships we all share, and celebrate the similarities within all our varied cultures, and rejoice in life itself as the wondrous gift that it is.
MY GALLERIES ...
Paintings and Pacifica -
is a collection of my recent works that are currently for sale. They change regularly and the style changes with my moods (both of which can be volatile and often!).
'The Muses' Collection -
My latest exhibition of works.
Each of us has at least one personal Muse, perhaps as many as the legendary nine, or more. In ancient Greece, the Mother Goddess, when referred to as the White Goddess, was the original Muse, the wellspring of all forms of inspiration. Later, she became worshipped as a threefold goddess, and eventually as nine smaller, less significant goddesses.
Living Images -
I adore photography, and it is my second medium of choice. Here I offer flora and scenery of New Zealand. My love of photography came from using photographs as my 'models' while painting.
Handmade Paper Products -
The paper is Hand Made in New Zealand, including authentic native flora wherever possible (nothing is ever used that is protected or that is taken from the earth that has not already been harvested).
All paper is acid free and of the highest standard.
I then work with collage, paint, dried flora and my photographic works to create original pieces for cards, bookmarks, etc.
These pieces make wonderful collections together, and many people have done just that - either using them as a 3-D art piece or framing them in a group.
Some Previous Works -
is a collection of previously sold works. I do take commissions but of course no two pieces are the same, and I would not like them to be. If you see something you like I will produce something similar. Thus ensuring you have an original piece.
'Smalls' Colelction -
was inspired by an exhibition I took part in at Christchurch Arts Centre. The topic was 'miniature' and had to be worked on tiny pieces. Therefore, I was a little stuck as I tend to like to work LARGE!!!
My partner suggested this idea when he was searching for undies one morning (smalls, you see??)
Very cute and lots of fun!!
Divine Elementals -
is a group of New Zealand artists that I am a proud member of. We are not an 'official' organisation, as such. More a group of very good friends and family that meet, share, create, and love all aspects of the arts.
Included in this gallery are works by:
Matt Hazard - tattoo artist and painter (also my brother :D)
Gabriel Hazard - child artist (and also my nephew :D)
Danny Ngene Ngene - contemporary Maori artist living in the Hawkes Bay area - working in oils on canvas and custom wood board.
Thank you for taking the time to view my works, and I hope they bring you as much joy as they bring me to create them.
“Just don’t give up trying to do what you really want to do. Where there is love and inspiration, I don’t think you can go wrong’.
