Acrylic on Wood
27 inches wide by 48 inches tall.
This is a lodge pole pine which has succumbed to the pine beetle. The trees are unable to hydrate themselves due to the infestation of beetles and the tree dries out and dies. The needles turn orangy red and the wood, if not harvested immediately before it becomes too dry and brittle, rots.
The Denim Pine gets its name because the beetle infested wood has a bluish tone when it is harvested.
