ABOUT THE ARTIST
Richard Duncan’s career as an artist began in high school, where he received what was then called an “Art Diploma”. He later studied portrait and figure with George Palmer, a prominent Buffalo N.Y.artist. During his U.S.Navy service, he was privileged to have access to the museums and cultures of Italy, Spain, France and the Netherlands.
Mr. Duncan married several years after returning from the military, and while raising the first of their three children, he returned to school and graduated Summa Cum Laude from the State University of New York at Buffalo, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. While working as a high school art teacher he began graduate work and received a degree as Master of Education. The artist’s early paintings have won awards at various local exhibits. A format which he developed while in art school had been accepted at the Chatauqua National Juried Show, the All Florida Art Competition at the Lee Scarfone Gallery at University of Tampa and at local galleries. Mr. Duncan’s work is found in numerous private collections in the U.S. and abroad.
After a career in the commercial world, the artist has been able to resume his development as a painter and has works available in acrylic, watercolor, egg tempera and oil. |
