12th Night Trumpet Herald, AS XIII

The event was Twelfth Night & the year was AS XIII (1979) in the Kingdom of the West. The preparation work was done & announcements had been in the SCA’s West Kingdom’s Newsletter THE PAGE. This is Dierdriana of the Misty Isles’ “12th Night Trumpeting Herald” with a horn upon which is tied a Banner, reading, ‘Twelfth Night XIII” – as it was the 13th year of the SCA. In 1978, Dierdriana of the Misty Isles & Kriemhild of Stonecroft (R.I.P.) Co-Autocrated SCA’s Kingdom of the West 12th Night for the last time at a Unitarian Church in Kensington, California. During 1978, the West’s populace has exploded. In preparing announcements, Dierdriana drew pen & ink drawings, one of which is seen before, titled, ‘Hear Ye! Hear Ye!’ Then, she drew the one seen herein. At 12th Night, January 6, 1979, Dierdriana received her 1st SCA Award, a Queen’s Cypher from Queen Verena for her services to Her Majesty. The event was a success & Dierdriana went on to Autocrat 2 more 12th Nights in much larger facilities! This is the only view of this drawing. Enjoy!
