The Figure & the Abstraction - 2010
Darwin Leon
The exhibit at the Artcenter Manatee's Searly Gallery in Bradenton, Fl marks the artist's profound idea of revising the figure starting from a classical and traditional point of view to a more cutting edge representative contemporary approach. Darwin's strong alignment with art history and the different periods of arts in general specifically the one of the Renaissance is emphasized as the viewer submerges in every harmonized high hued color canvas. The thirty six paintings on the exhibit shows the artist's last four years of work and explorations with the human form, personal experiences, and journey through out the artist's intellect and intrigued mind. The artist suggests that we should attempt to photograph our mind using the automatism drawing process to become more original in our original artwork.
