I picked up this bit of this unique wood the last time I went on one of my wild wood shopping sprees. It's regular eastern maple, but also the perfect home to the ambrosia beetle, who leave their tiny little holes and subsequently the wild streaking that is left behind by the fungus they carry on their little feet.
The stark contrast of the dark patches on the light maple combine perfectly with the warm hues of the jatoba on either side. The stainless steel standoffs between the pieces give it some defined depth and some bling to boot.
This wall art piece is the perfect touch for a narrow wall or as an accent above a small entry way table.
And don't worry, all the bugs are long gone...
