	Burnt Ash and Aluminum 3D Wall Art Daniel Potampa I dislike using stain, or maybe I just have a little pyromaniac left in me! This wall art piece utilizes various shapes and thicknesses of ash, which was flamed and gently sanded down. Flaming or roasting the wood gives a consistent color and unique look that really accentuates the grain in ash. I paid close attention in preserving the grain patterns in different sections of the board. The continuation of the grain curves separated by the orthogonal lines of aluminum is a subtle pleasing touch upon close inspection. A protective satin polyurethane finish seals of the wood, so don't worry about it smelling like a campfire.. Solid aluminum strips were cut to fit in the gaps, then textured and brushed . This piece is heavier than most artwork (about 25 pounds), so I've mounted a french cleat on the back for a solid wall mount. The dimensions are 27.5 x 27.5 x 2" thick.
