Being very fond of language, conscious of the magical potential of creation in sound, the name Andaluex comes from a moment of appreciation for the name of a stone, Andalucite, and a bit of investigation into the origins of that name. Andal, we learned, is a Hindu Saint (of Vishnu), whose name means "Beautiful Garland". (There's an enjoyable retelling of her story on Wikipedia and it's worth a few minutes of reading.) In short, Andal innocently breaks the rules of offering to Vishnu by first wearing her garlands to see if they suit her, an act which Vishnu finds pleasing, and not sacrilege as her father believed.
