 Ever since I was a child, I have had an enduring belief in angels, I dare say it is more than belief, it is a knowing. I know angels exist. A few years ago, after years of collecting angel images in various forms, I was inspired to make my own angel representations. They are in no way traditional in the way that they look, not ethereal but earthy, familiar and ethnic. I have always admired folk art or "hand did" art work. With that in mind and never having had any formal art training and only a strong desire to make something that speaks to my spiritual essence, Heritage Angels were born. I am now and have alwys been fascinated with the multitudes of ethnic and tribal peoples around the world. When I was growing up, National Geographic was my favorite magazine and my window into the greater world. There is exquisite beauty and a profound spiritual way of being in the so called "primitive" peoples. Each one of my Heritage Angels is imbued with that primitive spirit. No two angels are alike, just as no two of us are alike, they are each and every one, one of a kind.Recently my desire to broaden my spiritual expression has led me once again into unchartered territory. I have begun painting and my paintings are yet again a way of evoking my inner spiritual being. All of my art work is borne purely out of a desire to express my spiritual self. In short it is my way to glorify the Creator and in some small way connect with the Divine presence which exists in each and every one of us. |
